The goal of the Healthy Schools certificate is to encourage schools to implement activities promoting student health. The certificate is awarded by a committee of health and education department officials in the light of the criteria defined by each country or territory (see Framework documents).
Students benefit from the programme in many ways.
- Healthy children are more likely to be focused in class, learn better and understand better. Health fosters academic success.
- Children in good health are more likely to reach high levels of education.
- A high standard of education and a healthy environment enable children to develop good lifestyle habits and avoid high-risk behaviour.
In addition to contributing directly to student well-being through the implementation of concrete actions, the programme is of benefit to schools. Certification highlights the schools’ commitment to health, attests to their level of expertise and promotes exchanges between them on the development of a common culture of health promotion.
If you have implemented an action in your school and would like to share it with other institutions, feel free to contribute content to the platform. There are three steps:
- Create a contributor account (which will be validated by a site administrator);
- Select the category in which you wish to publish (projects, educational resources, updates for professionals, health challenges);
- Complete the form, providing all the information requested.
Make sure you have any authorizations required (protection of intellectual property rights, image rights, right to use and distribute the material).
Your publication will be approved and placed online by an administrator within 48 hours.
Teachers at schools that have obtained Healthy Schools certification or that are in the process of doing so can contribute to the platform.
The platform serves to highlight existing actions and projects in Pacific region educational institutions with Healthy Schools certification.
It is a depositary for media, tools, resources, references and model projects carried out by educational teams in the region, organized in four categories: projects, educational resources, updates for professionals, health challenges.
Content can be uploaded in different formats: posters, booklets, videos, audio files, PowerPoint presentations, PDFs.
All documents placed on the Healthy Schools platform were created by teachers and/or schools, then checked by an administrator before publication in order to guarantee the validity and reliability of the information posted online.
Bear in mind, however, that while the same health issues tend to arise across the Pacific region, rules, lifestyles and advice may differ depending on the country or territory. Items uploaded to the platform serve as examples and can be adapted to the context of each educational institution.
