FIRST AID EDUCATION AT NIUE HIGH SCHOOL
Health Promoting Schools Activity
At Niue High School, we are committed to ensuring the health, safety, and wellbeing of all students. As part of our Health Promoting Schools initiative, we are proud to work in partnership with the Paramedic Team from the Public Health Division at Niue Foou Hospital to deliver essential First Aid training across all year levels.
Students from Year 7 to Year 10 learn basic First Aid skills that help them understand how to respond safely and confidently in emergency situations. This includes learning how to assess a situation, call for help, treat minor injuries, and give support to someone in need until professional medical assistance arrives.
For our senior students in Years 11 to 13, First Aid is further developed through NCEA-accredited learning in Health and Physical Education. This provides valuable qualifications and life skills that serve them well beyond the classroom — at home, in sports, at work, and in everyday life.
First Aid education empowers students to stay calm in challenging situations, care for those around them, and contribute to a safer school environment. These skills strengthen our entire community by ensuring that more young people are prepared to act in times of need.
We are grateful to our partners in the health sector for supporting this important programme, and we will continue to promote a culture of safety, readiness, and responsibility here at Niue High School — where learning to care is just as important as learning to achieve.
